About

What is The White Book about?

The White Book seeks to unpack what mental health means for us in our personal, social and civic lives.

We are guided by curiosity in our approach to mental health. Our approach is centered on the belief that mental health is not just ‘mental’ — but is intertwined with our physical, social, emotional, even spiritual wellbeing. And many “mental health” issues are a reflection of very human experiences we share: our sense of identity, for example. Or our connection to ourselves and others.

We also acknowledge that everyone’s journey looks different, and we would like to be able to hold space for all narratives.

Is this relevant to me?

Everyone has mental health. That includes you, your loved ones, and the people you interact with at work and in any place.

Our mental wellbeing directly impacts our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. Being healthy mentally and emotionally helps us cope with adversity, have better relationships, and thrive in areas of our lives that matter.

What is White: Around The Table about?

Our second volume brings us to an intrinsic element of our lives and community: food. More than mere sustenance, food offers a universal language that helps break down barriers and invites deeper conversations. Through a blend of recipes, essays and interviews, this volume highlights how food can create intimate spaces for us to connect to our personal and collective well-being.

What can I expect from the book?

This book interweaves personal narratives and artwork with practical tips and actual recipes (16 of them!). You will read about topics ranging from the experience of doing IVF to using AI for therapy. We also have pieces that explore core tenets of what makes who we are: identity, care, dignity, conflict, even gender norms.

There’s a lot in here and we work to make it an enjoyable read for you. Contributors share their perspective through essays, interviews, personal stories, infographics and illustrations — all with vulnerability, courage, and clarity.

Wow. That sounds pretty jam-packed with narratives. Who’s writing all these?

We have more than thirty voices including Chirag Agarwal, Nessa Anwar, Yulianna Frederika (Lepak Conversations), Moom Health, Dignity Kitchen, Charlotte Mei, Alecia Neo, Limitless, and Jeremy Tang (Spectrum Psychology) in this issue.

Find the full list on the back of our book, or spot some in these book previews.

Can I contribute?

We will work on publishing more narratives on our website and future published editions of the book. If you have something in mind, do drop us a message.

Can I purchase the book for someone else?

Of course! In fact, we highly recommend doing so. It’s a gift of support, an affirmation of someone’s journey, and a continual source of comfort. Plus, you could find a companion to discuss and talk about your experience reading the book 😌. That way, the stories you read continue to live on in your conversations and the memories you build with others.

What is Give-It-Forward about?

In addition to gifting it to someone you know, we also facilitate the sponsorship of book copies to beneficiaries who may not be able to afford the book. Simply input details of your intention when you checkout, and we'll be in touch to keep you involved at every step of the process.
